It’s Time to Press Play – The Rise of Facebook Video Marketing

We have all caught ourselves scrolling through Facebook late at night watching one video after another on our newsfeed. Videos have become one of the most posted and engaging form of content on Facebook. Companies are taking advantage of this trend by posting short videos that advertise their brand or products.

 

Since Facebook was created in 2004, the social network has grown tremendously. The capabilities of the platform continue to expand with videos being the current leader for post shares. A recent study found that posts with video received an average of 4,036 shares per post, whereas images averaged 3,364 shares per post and links received an average of just 571 shares per post.

 

 

Videos on social media allow for a brand to get an insane amount of exposure in every corner of the world due to the sheer volume of users that could potentially see the video. The less your video seems like an ad the better. Facebook automatically begins playing videos making it very simple for users to watch the videos and then be quickly connected to a website. Increasing traffic to a website is the best way to boost your conversion rate.

 

One of the most important criteria for the video is the ability to receive the message without sound. Studies have shown that as much as 85% of video views on Facebook happen with the sound off. This is a huge portion of the total views making it extremely important for the video to have a text-heavy description and interesting visuals. To keep the viewer engaged throughout the entire video, limit the video to less than 2 minutes. When a video is too long viewers get bored, as compared to a 30-second video that catches viewers’ attention and leaves them wanting more. Shorter and more concise videos will be received better and are proven more effective.
